This position will be responsible for processing and issuing permits for the Building Safety and Onsite Wastewater Divisions, collecting fees based upon a set schedule, disseminating zoning information and responding to inquiries and complaints from the public pertaining to the Planning, Building and Onsite Wastewater Divisions. Position provides direct customer service in coordinating permit applications, issuing permits, scheduling inspections, conducting complex property research and advising customers in detail on the processes and procedures for that division.

- Performs technical tasks and customer service by applying technical knowledge to provide information to customers.
- Processes applications and issues permits.
- Reviews construction documents, site plans and permit applications for completeness and compliance.
- Conducts complex research and compiles property information.
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Customer service standards and protocols.
- Research methods for gathering data to draw conclusions.
- Reviewing documents and plans for compliance with applicable permitting rules and regulations, County codes, policies and procedures.
- Providing exceptional customer service through listening and understanding customer’s needs and responding in a friendly, helpful, and positive manner.
- Exercising judgment to resolve customer issues concerning permitting processes, inspections, code compliance, and public records.
- Performing tasks efficiently while under pressure and time constraints.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent;
- AND three (3) years of progressively responsible customer service experience;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
- General knowledge of the functions, processes and procedures of issuing development permits.
- Basic building and construction principles.
- Ability to obtain Notary Public Commission
Salary : $4,367 - $5,852
