Key Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service to direct and assist the public in utilizing waste and recycling disposal sites; answer questions regarding procedures, fees, recycling, etc., enforce policies and procedures with customers, and provide directions to disposal areas.
- Collect fees in a professional manner; issue receipts; accurately enter and verify data into appropriate computer system, maintain related paperwork.
- Provide customer traffic control to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Maintain worksite in a clean, organized manner; including disposal areas, pick up litter on site as needed.
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Payment/cash handling/cashiering.
- Customer service.
- Computer use and data entry.
- Cash handling, receipts, and electronic money transactions.
- Customer service and direct interaction with the public.
- Computer use and data entry.
- Safe operation of equipment.

Compensation
$3,794.28 to $4,842.60 per month for a 173.33 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
- AND one (1) year of customer service experience, including data entry and payment processing;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Experience in cashiering in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in basic computer entry skills.
- Experience in direct interaction with the public.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must have the ability to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Work Environment
- Work is performed while operating vehicles, getting in/out of vehicles, walking on uneven terrain, sometimes in adverse conditions. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly, 50 pounds occasionally. Stand for long periods of time and work on feet while outdoors.
