We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Risk Control Auditor to join our team. This role plays a critical part in evaluating, testing, and strengthening internal controls to enhance the organization's second line of defense. The ideal candidate has expertise in risk and control management and will support the organization's Enterprise Risk Management program in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring risks, assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies, and contribute to strengthening the risk culture. This position reports to the Chief Risk Officer and provides the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams on a variety of risk management initiatives while ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and best practices in risk control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Populate and maintain an enterprise-wide system to track risks and associated controls. Develop dashboards and reports within the system and help analyze risk trends to provide actionable insights.
- Assist in the continuous assessment and improvement of risk measurement components, including risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Support and facilitate risk control reviews across various departments, ensuring effective risk identification, mitigation strategies, and clear ownership of risks.
- Communicate risk management best practices and cultivate a risk-smart culture throughout the organization.
- Field risk-related inquiries from stakeholders and provide expert guidance on risk mitigation approaches.
- Coordinate with risk owners to ensure consistency and alignment in risk control efforts.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) committee, senior management, and executive leadership, providing recommendations for control improvements.
- Develop and maintain policies, training materials, resources, and educational content related to promoting risk management throughout the organization.
- Assist in SOC 2 certification efforts
- Identify emerging risks and collaborate with teams to develop proactive response plans.
- Conduct comprehensive control evaluations and substantive testing to assess the effectiveness of risk management processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise risk assessment and risk control identification, documentation, evaluation and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, internal controls, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex risk systems and data and to develop meaningful reports, dashboards, and metrics.
- Experience conducting control assessments, testing procedures, and evaluating internal policies with established risk policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and other advanced functions), Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze data quantitatively.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and drive results.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on deadlines and deliverables.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present risk findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as CRISC, CRCM, or GRCP.
- Experience working within the healthcare, retirement, insurance or financial services.
- Knowledge of risk management systems, governance frameworks, and data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Python, Power BI).
- Prior experience in risk management, risk analysis or quality assurance related to risk control.
