The Role :
The newsroom analyst will help us ensure our investment in journalism matches the needs of our growing online audience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of keen data analysis skills and the ability to work with editors and writers to share insights and recommend strategies to reach wider audiences.
Much of this role will be self-led, so we are looking for someone with a history of proactive ownership. Unlike other analytics positions, this role is less about fulfilling requests for data and analysis, and more about uncovering insights that lead to concrete business actions.
This position will work closely with both the product manager & data analyst and with newsroom leaders and writers.
This position will from our offices in Salt Lake City with the option to work remotely at times.
Qualifications : Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in statistics, math, economics, information systems, marketing or related field1-3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably with digital news mediaNot intimidated by SQL, and interested in becoming a proBasic proficiency with data visualization toolsProven ability to translate complex data into actionable insightsAn appreciation for journalism and an interest in digital publishingStrong communication skills, particularly in explaining technical conceptsAbility to work independently and take initiativeCore Responsibilities :
