Position Purpose
The position will serve as the Outreach Coordinator in the Desert Botanical Garden’s Administration department and report to the Senior Director of Social Responsibility & Impact. This position will provide a unique opportunity to assist the SRI department, which consists of the Senior Director and the Diversity Specialist.
The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for building new partnerships and enhancing existing ones, focusing on removing barriers to access and expanding opportunities for community engagement. This position will broaden the Gardens’ reach and require collaboration with internal teams and external partners to create and manage programs supporting social responsibility initiatives. Additionally, the position includes tracking partnership outcomes, reporting on their impact, and continuously seeking new opportunities to strengthen community relationships.
Essential Duties
- Collaborate with SRI department to develop new projects and special initiatives.
- Assist in creating SRI internal and external events, and ongoing support to the SRI department while ensuring all tasks are completed by agreed upon timelines.
- Serves as a liaison with community partners, representing Desert Botanical Garden at local meetings and functions.
- Cultivate and develop strong relationships and networks with diverse community partners.
- Plans, executes, and evaluates public events, workshops and outreach activities, both on-site and off-site.
- Researches and identifies potential community partners, such as local businesses, schools, nonprofits, government agencies and community groups.
- Develops strategies to broaden the organization’s reach within the community, targeting under served or new audiences.
- Monitors and analyzes event metrics, including participation rates and attendance trends.
- Collects and analyzes feedback, stories and testimonials from community members and stakeholders.
- Assist the Diversity Specialist with the staff SRI Committee’s activities including scheduling, sharing agendas and reports; attend and produce follow-up communications and action plans from these meetings.
- Maintain outreach partner information database and referrals to the programs.
- Manage program evaluation processes.
Hourly Pay Range - $20.00 to $24.00
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in community-based and/or nonprofit work OR equivalent education/experience
- A passion for SRI (Social Responsibility & Impact) efforts. Knowledge of DEI issues and legislation.
- Experience in event coordinating and working on community centered-related programs or initiatives preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail, editing and proofreading skills
- Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Professionalism and discretion with confidential information
- Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend commitments
- Comfortable working in an open office environment
- Availability to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays

Typical office equipment.
Internal Communication
Frequent communication with Garden employees.
External Communication
Regular communication with Garden community partners. This could be in person, via telephone, and/or email.
Working Conditions
No physical effort beyond what’s typically required in a normal office environment. Time periods of high workload may require additional hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, see, hear, speak, read, and type. Manual dexterity and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds required.
