Position Overview:
Desert Haven Enterprises (DHE) is seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform general maintenance and repairs on facility structures, surrounding property, equipment, machinery, and vehicles to ensure all assets remain in safe and optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and perform repairs on facility interiors and exteriors, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and flooring maintenance.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and building repair needs.
- Maintain DHEs fleet by conducting spot inspections, ensuring vehicle safety compliance, and coordinating repairs.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on organizational equipment, particularly grounds maintenance equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Perform hard floor care and carpet cleaning as needed.
- Unlock and lock facilities and vehicle compounds as per the assigned schedule.
- Assist with event setup and teardown as required.
- Serve as a backup commercial driver when necessary.
- Report safety concerns and hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Procure necessary maintenance supplies and equipment parts.
- Follow company policies, safety rules, and professional ethical standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- License/Certifications: Valid California drivers license with a clean DMV record; Commercial Class C with passenger endorsement required, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire. HVAC or building maintenance certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and vehicle repair.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and masonry.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, bend, crawl, and access hard-to-reach machinery.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, consumers, and vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Hours: Monday Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (40 hours per week)
- Breaks: Two paid, off-duty 10-minute breaks and one 30-minute unpaid meal period
