The Healthcare Data Scientist is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive the efficient operation of the company. The Healthcare Data Scientists utilize statistical analysis, advanced data modeling, and application of machine learning techniques to identify trends, optimize performance and support data-driven decision-making.
- Participate in complex data science projects from conception to implementation that require using advanced methods of data science such as data extraction, transformation, and loading; statistical analysis; data visualization; automated dashboards, and other data science products into production.
- Apply machine learning, predictive analytics, data management and hypothesis-driven data analysis to make actionable recommendations to support program and operational decision-making.
- Develop and apply methods to identify, collect, process, organize, validate and analyze structured and unstructured data using statistical prediction, inference and optimization to support data driven program design and management.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and complete projects in response to identified business needs. Ensure that projects result in actionable insights and recommendations that can be used to support business decisions.
- Apply advanced methods of data science to identify new and emerging business problems in conjunction with management; provide predictive insights and patient outcomes.
- Effectively communicate results to departmental and senior management decision makers and provide ongoing support to strengthen data-driven program design and management.
- Develop performance measures and dashboards, trend analyses, reports and presentations that represent key findings for non-technical audiences.
- Leverage data-oriented solutions to support current programs, projects and initiatives.
- Develop strong understanding of the key business processes, financial drivers and operational efficiency pertinent to the healthcare industry and the organization
- Interpret health care financial data from various sources to assist in the financial decision-making process.
- Ensure that project specific processes and procedures are adequately documented.
- Process ad-hoc reports/analysis and research requests, as requested by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor Degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, Computer Science or closely related field of applied research. Master Degree in Health Care Administration, Data Science, Statistics or related field, preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience executing data science projects, as well as data mining, data analysis, predictive analytics and machine learning. Healthcare experience, preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including advanced joins, subqueries, tables, indexes, and stored procedures, required.
- Intermediate programming knowledge in Python or R, preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, within all levels of the organization.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision and with teams, multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to collaborate with others and be a contributing member of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to utilize critical and analytical thinking, creativity, and judgement to problem solve and accomplish goals. Ability to derive conclusions from facts or premises.
- At the discretion of DOHC/FHC management, this position has the potential to be a full or hybrid telecommuting position. Routine onsite work is required. Candidate must reside in California.
