What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteers Coordinator position at Desert Oasis Healthcare?
Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers, coordinates their assignments and oversees their morale.
- Recruits, interviews, classifies and supervises applicants for volunteer work.
- Coordinates and conducts volunteer training program.
- Reviews written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate work and resolve grievances.
- Participates in programs of public education and public recognition for volunteer workers and for related community groups.
- Develops and supervises current and accurate records and reports including statistical data for program evaluation.
- Provides ongoing education programs for volunteers, supervision on individual and group basis and regular recognition programs.
- Assists interdisciplinary team (IDT) to maximize the use of volunteer workers to be attuned to indicators for referral.
- Develops contacts and utilizes community resources to provide adjunct support services to enhance program delivery.
- Attends staff meetings and participates in other such appropriate meetings and committees.
- Performs quality improvement activities as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year experience in healthcare or hospice, preferred. 1-3 years experience as a volunteer coordinator and/or a volunteer. Training experience and 1-2 years experience in supervision preferred.
- Knowledge of end-of-life issues.
- Must have computer experience in MS Office and Excel.
- Detailed oriented.
- Competent in written and oral communication including group presentations.
- Valid CA driver's license and proof of auto insurance required.
