What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Nurse Educator position at Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital?
The Clinical Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing leadership to ensure all personnel are competent to provide the care and services required by the population served. Responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and documenting nursing development activities of all employees. This includes orientation, in-service training, annual competency requirements, and professional development activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develops orientation and ongoing training programs adhering to evidenced based practice guidelines
- Evaluates competency of staff, including newly hired staff to determine competency to work with assigned patient populations
- Collaborates with nursing and quality / risk leadership to ensure clinical care meets quality standards
- Ensures all staff attend the required number of in-service / education hours as mandated by state, federal, or other regulatory agencies. Maintains data on staff participation in training
- Develops and enforces policies and procedures for the department and hospital ensuring compliance with TJC, OSHA, CDC, CMS and other county, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Conducts annual assessment of the Clinical Education Plan
- Collaborates with administration to assess staff development needs, plan, and design training programs to meet identified needs, and evaluate the impact of programs offered.
- Facilitates communication between employees and administration to ensure that orientation and training requirements are met in a timely manner.
