Job Description
The Financial Services Office of the Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking a Student Accounting Assistant. Duties include general accounts payable functions including receiving and sorting mail, disbursing invoices, communicating with division and department business staff, data entry of accounting transactions into accounting system, reconciling miscellaneous financial accounts, assisting with front desk coverage; and other clerical duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- Intermediate level of computer skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and distractions.
- Strong degree of accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, attention to detail and ability to organize multiple sets of data and files.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Must be able to follow instructions, prioritize and organize tasks and workload from multiple staff members.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year full-time or equivalent accounting experience.
- Accounting or business major/minor.
- Experience using accounting systems including Workday or QuickBooks.
Compensation Grade/Benefits
This is a student hourly position with a starting minimum rate of $15 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Schedule
20 hours per week.
Physical Requirements
Requires physical ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; requires ability to lift, carry and move approximately 30 lbs.
Conditions of Employment
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
- To qualify for a student position, you MUST be enrolled at an NSHE institution in at least 6 credits
