What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Paraeducator **Minimum of 48 College Credit Units Required position at Desert Sands Unified School District?
The Paraeducator/Special Education II may be assigned to a special education classroom or to a general education classroom. Assistance is generally provided to a small group of students; however, the Paraeducator/Special Education II may also be assigned to one-on-one assistance as required to meet the needs of individual students. The type of physical assistance provided depends upon the disabilities of the students to whom the Paraeducator/Special Education II is assigned, and may include assistance with one or more of the following: ambulation, transfers, personal care (toileting, diapering, dressing, grooming, feeding), accessing and storing materials and supplies, and using therapeutic equipment.
**This position generally supports students who may be eligible for special education or receive services in areas such as Medically Fragile, Developmentally Disabled, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Emotionally Disturbed, Intellectually Disabled, Autism, Visually Impaired and Orthopedically Handicapped.
