Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time, Hybrid Remote)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Volunteer Coordinator to lead and manage our hospice volunteer program. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hospice experience and be familiar with the unique challenges of end-of-life care. This role involves recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers while ensuring the program aligns with patient care needs.
This hybrid remote position requires two consistent in-office days per week (4-5 hours each day) and flexibility to travel within the High Desert for volunteer visits and recruitment efforts. The remaining hours will be completed remotely to oversee volunteer scheduling, maintain records, and support program development.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for hospice patient support.
- Conduct outreach in the High Desert, including attending local events and engaging with community organizations.
- Ensure all volunteer records and compliance documentation are up to date.
Volunteer Coordination & Support:
- Assign volunteers to patients based on needs and availability.
- Accompany volunteers on occasional field visits to provide training and ensure quality interactions.
- Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and performance feedback to volunteers.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to align volunteer support with patient care needs.
- Attend office meetings to provide updates on the volunteer program and discuss strategies for program improvement.
Program Development & Compliance:
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of the volunteer program.
- Ensure program activities comply with hospice regulations and best practices.
- Promote the hospice philosophy and maintain a culture of compassion and commitment.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience in hospice care (Required).
- Experience in volunteer coordination, program management, or a leadership role (Preferred).
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with various departments.
- Reliable transportation for travel within the High Desert as needed.
