Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our two manufacturing plants specializing in desiccant production. This role is crucial to ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and safe production of desiccant products. The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing production planning and scheduling, inventory control, and leading cross-functional teams to meet company goals while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and implement production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources, meet customer demand, and maintain production targets.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, raw material availability, or production challenges.
- Ensure that production lines are optimized for maximum efficiency, minimal downtime, and high product quality.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure adequate stock levels and prevent production delays.
- Implement inventory control strategies to minimize waste, reduce excess inventory, and optimize warehouse space.
- Work closely with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Cross-functional Team Management:
- Lead and manage production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics teams across both plants.
- Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any cross-functional issues.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and performance evaluations for all team members.
- Continuous Improvement & Efficiency:
- Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Develop and foster a culture of continuous improvement through lean manufacturing practices and Kaizen events.
- Reporting & KPI Management:
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor scrap records for MS and Mexico facilities.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on production performance, inventory status, and any operational challenges.
- Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Manage the operational budget for both plants, ensuring effective cost control and optimization of resources.
- Analyze financial performance and recommend strategies to improve profitability through cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in manufacturing, with a focus on production planning and inventory control.
- Experience managing multiple manufacturing sites or plants is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory management, and supply chain management.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in desiccant manufacturing or similar industries is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO or similar quality management systems.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and navigating between different plant areas.
- Occasional travel between plant locations may be required.
