The Graphic Prepress Professional is a key member of our team at Design Group Americas, responsible for the pre-press function related to our printing operations. This role involves working directly with project managers, salespeople, production personnel and occasionally with customers to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality output.
Main Responsibilities
- Review customer graphics files, troubleshoot and prepare files for proof and plates. As needed, communicate with internal and external customers to resolve issues with their digital files.
- Maintain and organize daily work on servers, collaborating with the IT department to troubleshoot any server-related issues.
- Create layouts/graphic files for external customers, utilizing expertise in current pre-press programs.
- Design layouts tailored to material size, considering color and material characteristics for both internal and external clients.
- Prepare die-lines for internal and external products.
- Troubleshoot CTP software issues, investigating and learning new software programs as needed.
- Capable of loading plates into the CTP unit and performing maintenance tasks as a backup position.
- Contribute to website-related duties.
- Assist on the production floor as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkExpress, and InDesign, with a strong understanding of the Mac platform.
- Demonstrated ability in layout and design.
- Familiarity with the printing process and basic layout requirements for production.
- Understanding of printing, die-cutting, and how one process affects another.
- Thorough and detail-oriented approach.
- Able to work diligently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of the CTP process.
- Ability to comprehend functions and capabilities of new or updated software programs.
