FLSA Status: Hourly, non-exempt, eligible for OT
Location: Louisville, CO
Wage Range: $32.00 - $36.00/ hour (salary may be adjusted based on experience level)

OVERVIEW:
The Plumbing Fabrication Crew Lead ensures proper production flow in the shop – along with the Safety of those we work with and around, the Quality of the services we provide and the realization of our Profitability goals as it specifically relates to the commercial installation, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of mechanical HVAC systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of all tools, equipment, and skills necessary for the complete installation of projects common to the commercial HVAC and Plumbing industries.
- Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of company equipment as well as monitoring the use and timely return or rented equipment
- Ability to operate shop equipment including grooving machines, threaders, torches, bevelers, bandsaws, and other common types of shop equipment. In depth knowledge of all areas of the shop.
- Ability to comprehend concepts and designs via shop drawings (both hand and CAD generated) and detailed plans
- Ensure we are utilizing the most current information from BIM-coordinated projects (spool maps, BOM’s)
- Receive, inventory and verify materials/equipment for fabrication
- Stage materials equipment and spool packets for fabrication in respective locations
- Prepare completed fabrication for shipping
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as, operating, maintenance, and repair manuals
- Maintaining knowledge of local/national codes and industry standards. Ensure that all necessary inspections are made through all phases of work ensuring quality standards are being met
- Identify and respond to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time
- Promote Design Mechanical’s business values and culture
- Promote proper use of company assets/resources – enforce each fabricator in the shop to keep up with production goals, schedule changes.
- Work directly with shop manager to review/maintain scheduled activities, and necessary manpower adjustments to meet such.
- Take an active role in the development of other team members, leading by example, and recognize/ implement training opportunities
- Delegate responsibilities, and clearly communicate expectations holding team members accountable
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected to meet the requirements of this position
- Will be responsible to periodically operate forklifts, aerial lifts, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and ladders, ensuring safe operation by self and others
- Other duties as assigned within the Plumbing/Piping Fabrication Department
- Will be responsible for ensuring all machinery, gas tanks and compressors are turned off/inoperable.
- Will be responsible for ensuring all fabricators are aware of daily tasks, after morning toolbox talks.
- Will help enforce locking away tools, when not in use.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4-year apprenticeship certificate or 4 years of field experience
- 10 years of experience in our field and shop, to fully understand how our flow needs to function, or what we could utilize to grow.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of HVAC and Plumbing construction practices and safety procedures
Journeyman tools - Reliable transportation to and from work required
- Good communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to work in and around construction job sites as well as in an office setting
- Must be able to meet deadlines and effectively and professionally communicate via phone, email, business writing, verbal and have strong listening skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to pass a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test
