Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy Ignition SCADA applications tailored for oil & gas processes such as well monitoring, pipeline control, compressor station oversight, and terminal automation.
- Design intuitive and responsive HMI interfaces using Ignition Vision and/or Perspective modules.
- Integrate SCADA with PLCs/RTUs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Emerson ROC, SCADA Pack) using OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
- Configure alarm management, historian logging, and real-time dashboards for field assets and control centers.
- Write Python scripts and SQL queries to handle data processing, automation routines, and dynamic user interactions.
- Interface SCADA systems with field instrumentation, telemetry devices, and enterprise systems (ERP, reporting tools).
- Support field commissioning and remote troubleshooting, working closely with field technicians and operations staff.
- Ensure systems are compliant with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (e.g., API 1165, NIST, PHMSA).
- Maintain clear technical documentation, user manuals, and change logs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of SCADA development experience with a strong focus on Ignition platform.
- Proficiency in Python scripting, SQL, and relational databases.
- Familiarity with oil & gas operations and terminology (e.g., well sites, separators, tank batteries, metering).
- Experience with remote SCADA access, cellular/radio communications, and telemetry systems.
- Working knowledge of SCADA system security, including user roles, SSL, and secure data transport.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
Preferred:
- Ignition Core/Gold Certified.
- Experience with MQTT Sparkplug B for IIoT architectures in oil & gas.
- Familiarity with Edge Gateway deployments and store-and-forward techniques in remote locations.
- Understanding of pipeline SCADA and leak detection systems.
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid SCADA systems (e.g., AWS, Azure IoT, Ignition Cloud Edition).
Work Environment & Travel:
- Combination of office, remote, and field work.
- Travel to remote oilfield or plant sites as needed (10–30% depending on project lifecycle).
- Must be able to meet safety and fitness standards for industrial site access.
