Primary Role – Summary
This position is intended to focus on the FedEx and LTL needs of the Shipping Department; striving to ensure it runs efficiently, on time and within costs established. In addition, this position will train as backup for Shipping Manager (logistics scheduling, backhauls, driver management, etc.) and assist with Receiving when needed. Must be able to lift 50-70lbs, bend, pull, push, stand, and walk.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Performs a combination of manual and clerical duties.
- Directs Product once received into Shipping Department. With a thorough inspection, ensure all defects are corrected before shipping.
- Records shipping data (crate/box dimensions, weight, charges, Sales Order revenue) in Excel spreadsheet for reporting and documentation.
- Prepares required reports for shipping / receiving – noting any shortages or damages for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes.
- Prepares required documentation for shipped products (including work orders, bills of lading, shipping orders, handling needs).
- Process and schedule LTL pickups and deliveries.
- Confirms and records the receipt of shipments at destination.
- Ensures inventory control is maintained relating to boxes, packing materials, and other components; works with Purchasing for reorders and stock when necessary.
- Prepares boxes, crates or packing materials for shipments.
- Actively works with the Shipping Team to ensure accurate piece count for Small Package, LTL and TL.
- Ensure photos of LTL/TL are taken for record-keeping purposes.
- Receiving goods from deliveries when Receiving Team is unavailable.
REQUIREMENTS AND WORK AVAILABILITY
- Valid Driver’s License (able to obtain endorsements if necessary).
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other manual and motorized transfer equipment to load and unload trucks – including assistance to Receiving when necessary.
- Excellent attendance and work ethics, strong communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND DEMANDS:
- Frequent use of 2-3 flights of stairs; standing and walking throughout a large facility each workday.
- Use of arms, hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Lift, move, transport materials, products and items weighting up to 75 pounds, as necessary.
- Perform administrative and clerical desk work, at times for a continuous 8 (eight) hour workday or more.
- Strong speaking, training, and observation skills within manufacturing facility/sitting
- Work in non-climate-controlled locations (offsite and/or manufacturing facility).

· Computer skills – Position may require general computer knowledge including email and familiarity with MS Word or Excel.
