Position Overview:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a critical role within Design West Technologies' (DWT) Production unit. This position focuses on optimizing the production processes for wire harness and associated Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), ensuring high-quality fabrication and installation. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to lead process improvements, work cell setup, and implement innovative manufacturing solutions.
Key Job Duties:
Process Optimization:
•Develop and implement strategies to enhance wire harness and LRU fabrication and installation processes.
•Identify opportunities for process improvements and streamline workflows.
•Establish lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
Work Cell Design:
•Design and implement efficient work cells tailored to wire harness and LRU production.
•Optimize work cell layouts for maximum production efficiency and ergonomic standards.
•Continuously assess and refine work cell configurations to meet evolving production demands.
Production Support:
•Provide technical expertise for the fabrication and installation of wire harnesses and LRUs.
•Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure smooth operations.
•Leverage knowledge in form boards to enhance wire harness assembly processes.
Quality Assurance:
•Ensure all wire harnesses and LRUs meet IPC 610/620 and J-STD 001 standards.
•Maintain comprehensive quality control documentation and procedures.
Project Management:
•Lead projects to improve production capabilities and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
•Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and engineering teams to meet project requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
•Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and process diagrams.
•Prepare regular reports tracking production performance and identifying improvement areas.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Senior Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
•3 years of experience in wire harness and LRU manufacturing, with a focus on aerospace or defense systems preferred.
•Strong knowledge of IPC 610/620, J-STD 001 standards, and lean manufacturing principles.
•Expertise in designing and utilizing form boards for wire harness and LRU assembly.
•Proven experience in work cell design and process optimization.
•Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing tools.
•Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with CalOSHA safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience with production planning for aerospace and defense assemblies.
•Expertise in wire harness fabrication techniques and advanced strategies for optimizing work cell layouts to enhance production efficiency and quality.
•Certification in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement methodologies.
•Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking tools.
