Position Overview:
The Senior Test Engineer/Supervisor is a critical leadership role within Design West Technologies' (DWT) VLS Program. This position focuses on leading test efforts for wire harness and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) systems, including operating and managing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and vibration testing. The Senior Test Engineer/Supervisor will troubleshoot systems, ensure compliance with production schedules, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
Key Job Duties:
Testing Leadership:
•Lead and oversee the testing processes for wire harnesses and LRUs, ensuring all systems meet stringent aerospace and military standards.
•Operate and manage Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to verify system performance and functionality.
•Plan and conduct vibration testing to validate the durability and reliability of components.
Troubleshooting and Quality Assurance:
•Diagnose and resolve technical issues with wire harness and LRU systems during testing.
•Ensure all testing aligns with IPC 610/620, J-STD 001 standards, and other relevant industry requirements.
•Maintain detailed records of test results and implement corrective actions as needed.
Production Schedule Management:
•Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align testing activities with production schedules.
•Monitor testing progress and address any deviations to ensure on-time delivery of products.
Process Improvement:
•Identify inefficiencies in testing workflows and implement improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
•Develop and maintain comprehensive testing procedures and documentation.
•Promote best practices and continuous process improvement within the testing team.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
•Supervise and mentor a team of test technicians and engineers.
•Provide training and technical guidance to ensure team proficiency and adherence to best practices.
•Foster collaboration with design, production, and quality teams to optimize overall system performance.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
•5 years of experience in wire harness and LRU testing, including experience with ATE and vibration testing.
•Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems.
•Strong knowledge of IPC 610/620, J-STD 001 standards, and other relevant testing protocols.
•Familiarity with production scheduling and the ability to prioritize testing activities effectively.
•Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience in aerospace or defense testing environments.
•Certification in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement methodologies.
•Proficiency with testing software and data acquisition systems.
•Hands-on experience with advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
