Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Machine Shop Supervisor serves as a focal point of Machine Shop operations and requires coordination of work with other departmental supervisors, sub-contractors, engineering and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts.
Key Job Duties:
- Oversees and delegates daily tasks to assigned production employees to meet customer/DWT schedules
- Supervises employee duties to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met.
- Monitor efficiencies in manufacturing processes and proactively drive cost cutting measures
- Trains production employees.
- Proactively work with Material Planning department to ensure materials are available in time to support the production schedule
- Ensure that labor standards are met and work to improve standard times while maintaining quality of finished product.
- Ensure fixtures & tooling availability
- Set-up & run vertical, horizontal and 5 axis mills.
- Inspect parts completely looking for discrepancies and blemishes.
- Able to operate CNC machines changing cutting tools, adjusting offsets to make a quality part. Work efficiently as to run multiple machines at once.
- Recommend and select cutting tools, design fixtures and work holdings
- Consistent evaluation of processes to increase first pass yield and reduce quality issues.
- Work closely with all departments to develop and implement programs to meet business objectives.
- Monitor Time Punches and scheduling for direct reports.
- Supervise assigned manufacturing staff.
Requirements:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Skill in operating standard office equipment including a personal computer and related software
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade
- Experience working with suppliers
- Time management skills
- CNC training, including blue print reading GD&T tolerancing, set up & operation of machines including manual mills and lathes
- MasterCam courses is a plus.
- Must be able to read & write in English.
- Read blueprints & technical drawings
- Minimum 7 years of experience
