Summary
designArc is seeking an experienced and talented Interior Designer to join our growing team! We currently have one Interior Designer who is located at our Brookings office, and we have more work lined up for 2025 than one person can handle. Ideally, the new Interior Designer will be located at our Sioux Falls or Mitchell office to complement the teams there, but if Brookings is the desired location, we are willing to be flexible for the right candidate!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meets with clients, in collaboration with the Architect, for space planning, presenting plans, and working through design solutions with the client.
- Collaborate with the design team on projects including buildings for education, community, commercial, office, residential, and many other uses.
- Reviews sites and performs field measurements when needed
- Develops drawings and specifications of interior design elements, ensuring consistency between the two
- Creates renderings and presentation boards, as well as construction documents
- Answers contractor/subcontractor questions during construction
- Performs punch-list reviews
- Manages own workload to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, completing documentation required from initial planning phases through project completion
- Manages projects in an efficient manner to ensure profitability on each project
- Understands client’s budget and timeline and ensures finish selections and other design elements meet these requirements
- Develops and maintains relationships with manufacturers, staying up to date on new products and ensuring accurate and best pricing
- Continually stays abreast of latest trends and current practices
- Stays current on applicable building codes, ADA regulations, etc.
- Collaborates with other dAG interior designers to maintain the Samples Libraries
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor in Interior Design from an accredited university (NCIDQ Certification is desired, but not required upon hire).
At least 3 years of post-graduate experience in the industry.
Demonstrated computer proficiency (BIM360, Revit, Bluebeam, Lumion, Twinmotion, MS Office – Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook).
Preference for individuals with LEED AP or WELL AP or similar.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal teams and external customers.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Ability to possess and maintain an exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
Ability to travel as needed to serve market sector interests, including presentations at public listening meetings.
