We are looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team in the Hayward Shop.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Technical Diagnosis & Repair
- Inspect, trouble shoot and diagnose equipment mechanical failures.
- Repair and maintain a wide variety of equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes, lifts, cranes, generators, compressors, etc.
- Perform maintenance including but not limited to: Preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, oil changes, electrical system failures, etc.
Welding & Fabrication
- Weld and/or fabricate solutions to equipment failures.
Documentation & Work Environment
- Accurately complete written record of work performance.
- Maintain a clean truck and work area.
Training & Additional Responsibilities
- Complete employee training and refresher courses as necessary.
- Other duties as directed by Hayward Shop/Master Mechanic.
Qualifications
- 5 years of heavy diesel experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Member of Local 3 (preferred but not required).
- Able to use and operate standard tools of the heavy equipment mechanic trade.
- Familiarity with Wirtgen Grinders, Hamm Rollers, 657E, 657G, 825K, D10T, D8T, Cat ET, Cummins Insite and Paccar Davie 4.
- Knowledge of air brake systems, air suspension systems, starters, alternators, ECMs, ECUs, HVAC systems, steering systems.

Additional Requirements
- Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Available for scheduled shifts, overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
- Possess and maintain clean, valid California Class B driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
Benefits
Total compensation package commensurate with experience. This position is open to non-union and union (Operating Engineers, Local 3) candidates. Detailed benefit information will be provided to candidates selected to move forward in the interview process.
