Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Intern to join our building envelope consulting group, specializing in the technical aspects of building façades, roofing, and waterproofing. Our team of architects and engineers work at the intersection of design and construction to deliver thoughtful solutions for building envelope systems. As an intern in the New York office, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and be exposed to meaningful projects within the field.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Intern, you will be exposed to a range of activities designed to deepen your knowledge and experience in the construction and building envelope industry. Your responsibilities will include:
- Participate in site visits to construction projects, observing and learning about the practical application of building envelope systems.
- Assist in the development and refinement of the group's internal standards, processes, and tools that guide our work.
- Gain exposure to a variety of building envelope systems and construction techniques, learning about their technical considerations and real-world implementation.
- Participate in meetings and calls with manufacturers to discuss materials, technologies, and systems used in the building envelope industry.
- Work closely with team members, contributing to the growth of the group through your initiative, strong communication, and collaborative skills.
- Bring a healthy curiosity to your work, actively seeking out opportunities to learn and problem-solve while contributing ideas and insights to the team.
- Clearly present concepts and ideas in graphic form.
- Effectively communicate information and ask well-structured questions.
- Write clear summaries and memos of own work.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desired):
- High School Diploma
- Must be enrolled in one of the following programs as a rising senior:
- NAAB-accredited professional degree in Architecture
- Post-professional degree in Architecture
- ABET-accredited professional degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering
- Post-professional degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Architectural Engineering, with Concentration in Structural Engineering
- Strong interest in architecture, engineering, or building science.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Attention to detail and an eagerness to learn.
- Curiosity about building systems and an enthusiasm for solving complex challenges.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, and/ or Revit software.
Work Environment: Office setting – this position is in office 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) 9am-6pm.
Travel: Limited to local travel via public transit on occasion.
This position is classified as hourly, non-exempt. The hiring hourly rate for this is $30.00 per hour.
