What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Facade Specialist position at DeSimone Consulting Engineers?
Position Summary:
Project Façade Specialist will investigate, evaluate, and prepare design solutions, while providing construction administration for exterior building envelope components, including walls, fenestration, roofing, and waterproofing. Responsibilities include close collaboration with architects, engineers, owners, and developers at all project phases to deliver façade and building envelope systems that address architectural intent, long term performance, constructability, sustainability, scheduling, and budget objectives.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections and write summary reports with minimal supervision
- Submittal review (i.e., shop drawings, product data, test reports, etc.)
- Clearly represent and communicate concepts and ideas graphically in the form of drawings or diagrams
- Detail-oriented and able to self-check work and work of other staff effectively
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Successfully in a team-oriented environment
- Work in a timely manner and meet deadlines
- Perform code research independently; Interprets building codes and project/design/construction specifications
Required Skills:
- Possesses working knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Statics
- Thermal transfer
- COMcheck energy analysis
- Envelope portions of building and energy codes
- Glass products and processing
- Waterproofing/ roofing
- Effective verbal and written communication with internal and external parties
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil, or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of full-time AEC experience
- Minimum 2 years of full-time building envelope experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience using/applying Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with/applying a variety of building envelope systems and materials
- Licensure in architecture or engineering, or near completion (3-6 months to obtain) of the licensure process upon acceptance of position
- This position is based in Miami but will require the ability travel to continental US office locations
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Architecture, Civil, or Structural Engineering
- Proficiency in LBNL Therm/ Window/ Optics, Revit, Rhino
- Ability to seek and nurture client relationships
- Ability to train other staff

This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $65,000 - $80,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.

For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with at least 2 years of experience in the industry, and Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. In these cases, we may consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
