What are the responsibilities and job description for the Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector - QEWI Inspector position at DeSimone Consulting Engineers?
Target compensation for this position is $90,000- $115,000, based on experience and location. This position is classified as salaried, exempt position.
- Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI) registered with NYC Department of Buildings.
- Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Bachelor of Science in Architecture or related Engineering field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Construction Administration (CA) phase including Submittal (Product Data, Shop Drawings, and Calculations) Review, Factory Observation Visits, Site Inspection Visits, NYC Special Inspections and Façade Inspection & Safety Program (FISP) inspections.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of email correspondence and concise but detailed shop and site inspection reports.
- Ability to compose sketches/ drawings in BlueBeam and AutoCAD, while communicating effectively through graphic means.
- Ability to participate in in-person and virtual meetings with Owner, Construction Manager, Subcontractors, Architect, and Subconsultants.
- Experience in producing and compiling drawings for DoB filing.
- Ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation.
- Must be able to climb ladders, ride suspended scaffolds, and work at great heights.
- Management of project team during CA phase a plus.
- Rope access certification a plus.

For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of experience in the industry, obtain Bachelor of Science in Architecture or related Engineering field, and be a Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE).
We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. In these cases, we may consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
