A well-established and respected veterinary organization is seeking a Regional Medical Director to oversee 20-35 veterinary hospitals across the Southwest. This full-time, salaried role involves travel to various locations, with the ideal candidate based in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Candidates from other key cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, Houston, and Dallas are also encouraged to apply.
The Regional Medical Director will work closely with regional directors, practice managers, and veterinary teams to ensure exceptional care, improve clinical outcomes, and deliver a world-class client experience. This leader will also be responsible for mentoring and developing staff, improving hospital operations, and fostering a culture of excellence across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide hands-on clinical support and mentorship to veterinarians and staff, assisting with complex cases and encouraging continuous professional growth.
- Hospital Oversight: Oversee daily operations of multiple hospitals, ensuring adherence to protocols and policies. Track and analyze key performance metrics like revenue, pet count, and client satisfaction.
- Clinical Support & Staffing: Provide support during urgent staffing needs and clinical challenges. Fill shifts as necessary and maintain adequate staffing levels across all locations.
- Performance Analysis: Collaborate with practice managers and leadership to evaluate performance trends and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Team Collaboration: Foster healthy communication and collaboration between veterinary teams, addressing any conflicts and helping to implement best practices across all locations.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure consistency across all hospitals in delivering high-quality care. Conduct quarterly inspections of practices and manage ongoing projects.
- Travel & Clinical Hours: Maintain an active clinical presence by staffing hospitals a minimum of 8 days per month, in addition to completing corporate duties such as meetings, travel, and project work.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Veterinary Education & Licensing: DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college (or completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program). Must hold or be eligible for licensure in the states where hospitals are operated.
- Experience: At least 5 years of clinical veterinary experience, with a preference for leadership or mentorship experience in a multi-location or hospital environment.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate diverse teams across different locations.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable solutions to improve operational and clinical outcomes.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently across the Southwest region and maintain a balance between corporate and clinical duties.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in diverse practice settings, and adaptable to the needs and dynamics of different teams and locations.
