JOB IDENTIFICATION
Job Title: Facility Maintenance I Prairie Lakes
Grade: V
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Department: Revenue Facilities
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Recreation
Supervises: N/A
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform general, routine and skilled custodial maintenance and repairs at Prairie Lakes Community Center including general, specialized and preventative maintenance work and repairs at Prairie Lakes with emphasis on problems related to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Hours: Sunday-Thursday 6:30am-3:00pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform general building custodial duties to maintain and clean floors both carpeted and tile.
- Clean hallways, health club, windows, restrooms and office areas.
- Responsible for room set up and break down for recreation programs, meetings and events as scheduled.
- Inspect building for maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Check chemical balance on whirlpool, clean, drain and refill.
- Perform building repairs such as painting, changing light bulbs and ballasts.
- Strip, seal and wax floors.
- Snow removal and spreading of de-ice on outside walkways.
- Pick up trash and debris outside building.
- Supervise work of part-time custodian as needed.
- Understanding of Building systems.
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs on all District building and facility systems including but not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, electrical pumps, motors and boilers.
- Diagnosed mechanical system problems and make minor repairs as necessary.
- Performs building, facility and equipment inspections, noting major equipment operating condition and emergency building systems.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on building equipment.
- Works in on-call status for special operations and emergency situations.
OTHER DUTIES
- Perform custodial cleaning and maintenance at West/Arndt Fieldhouses and Cumberland Terrace, including set-ups as needed.
- Assist administrative staff with special maintenance requests.
- Help maintain batting cages and make repairs at Mountain View Adventure Center.
- May be required to perform overtime work as requested or required.
- Attend related training to expand skills and knowledge
- Assist patrons with providing information as requested.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Member of a Park District committee as assigned.
- Assist with special events including, but not limited to, the annual Fall Fest.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience: Two years related experience.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification, classes available through the District upon hire.
Valid Illinois Drivers License, CPO/APO Certification preferred
