Job Description : Photography Substitute Teacher

Broad Function :
de Toledo High School, a vibrant and innovative independent high school, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Photography Teacher for a part-time teaching position beginning in late April 2025. This limited position would involve completing the semester (ending at the end of May), then returning for the first two months of the next academic year (mid-August >
mid-October). The candidate must show excellent skills as a teacher, and passion for teaching photography. A strong candidate will have the heart of a teacher, the passion for igniting teenagers’ curiosity, and the love for inspiring students to move outside of their comfort zones.
Responsibilities :
Teach three to four classes per contract.
The course subjects to be taught include Photography 1 and Photography 2 : Advanced Photography.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Enthusiasm for mission and vision of de Toledo High School and strong commitment to embrace and promote its culture.
Experience as a photography teacher.
Candidates should have knowledge of the technical (software and hardware) aspects of cameras, of the history of photography, and the ability to convey the aesthetic principles as to what makes an impactful photograph.
B.A. or higher equivalent degree in Photography or related field.
Must be flexible, highly professional, eager to evolve as educators and enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment.
Demonstrate ability to teach with a variety of modalities to reach different learning styles.
Ability to communicate with high school students.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels and in all settings.
Self-motivating, self-confident.
Willing communicator and collaborator; enthusiastic team player.
Unquestionable personal integrity, excellent judgment, sound instincts, diplomacy and patience.
Salary range : $30-$40 per hour depending on experience. Approximately 25-30 hours per week
