Title of Position : Port Operations Manager
Compensation : $100,000-$125,000 annually discretionary bonuses based on operations performance.
FSLA : Exempt
Location : Greater Detroit Metro

Established in 2021, Detroit Aggregate entered the aggregate business to better serve six (6) company owned ready mix plants situated across the Greater Detroit metro. Over the course of the past 3 years, Detroit Aggregate has grown to a trucking operation and a port operation to oversee the importation of cement and aggregate materials. The port operation has grown to a 35 person operation over the past year! We are continually look to expand and we are looking for a leader that is ready oversee a constantly expanding operation!

So, what does a Port Operations Manager do?
You are the heart of our aggregate operations team :
Maintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of the dock, which include loading bulker trailers with cement, offloading inbound vessels, and proper warehousing of cement.Development of vessel discharge plans, which include briefing port operations supervisors of proper operating processes and procedures.Allocating resources properly to ensure a smooth running port operation. Implement key performance metrics and standard operating procedures.Monitor and review manpower planning processes, and evaluating team to make sure all responsibilities are met in a timely manner.Encourage innovative improvements to better unload vessels and warehouse materials.Oversee the compliance of workplace safety and health policies, environmental policies, as well as national, state, and local policies.Management and ownership of the cleanliness of the port, dock and warehouse operations.This position will report directly to, and work collaboratively, with ownership.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience managing a port operation is highly preferred.Experience in aggregate, maritime, port operations or related industry also preferred.A college degree highly preferred, particularly in supply chain management, maritime business, nautical studies, or related field.An understanding of all aspects of warehousing, material management, and truck / trailer utilization.A working mechanical knowledge of all port related equipment.Knowledge of production equipment, production processes and maintenance programs.A commitment to team concepts, ownership and an outgoing personality.Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers.Excellent problem solving skills.Working computer skills.May be required to use protective gear and to take other precautions.Required to work long hours during peak seasonAble to think analytically and on the spot when problems arise.Walk and stand, sit, climb or crawl around and under machines or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and drive a vehicle.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Familiar with WINDOWS (basic applications), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer skillsWorking knowledge, or the willingness to learn, of maintenance proceduresWorking Conditions :
Able to work extended hours as needed - Up to 70 hours per week during the peak season.Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoorsMust wear protective equipment while at the locationPhysical Requirements :
