As a Hospitality Intern at the Detroit Athletic Club, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a comprehensive understanding of hospitality operations. This internship will provide exposure to key departments such as Banquets, Food & Beverage, Catering, Front Office, and Member Services, along with insights into Human Resources and Accounting Functions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various departments to learn about their daily operations and contribute to team efforts.
- Assist with daily administrative tasks, including scheduling, inventory management, and budgeting.
- Shadow managers and supervisors to learn about leadership, team management, and decision-making in a hospitality setting.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Step in as needed to assist with various service lines, such as food & beverage.
- Help ensure adherence to club policies, rules, and regulations for both members and staff.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and special projects to broaden your understanding of hospitality management practices.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Hospitality, Tourism Management, or related program.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with event management software/tools.
- Creative mindset with a passion for excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Previous experience in hospitality or related field is a plus but not required.
