Job Summary
Operate or tend washing and drying machines to wash and dry-clean industrial or household articles, blankets, linens, including using spotters.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Direct operational or production activities.
- Operate garment treatment equipment.
- Sort materials or products for processing, storing, shipping, or grading.
- Count and record finished products or workpieces.
- Remove products or workpieces from production equipment.
- Clean production equipment.
- Lubricate production equipment as needed.
- Inspect items for defects, damage, or stains.
- Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying or standards.
- Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
- Smooth garments wit irons, presses, or steamers.
- Mount materials or workpieces onto production equipment.
- Prepare fabrics or materials for processing or production.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm in one position.
- The ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with you arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- The ability to see details at close range.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- The ability to be active in a warm to hot, limited space laundry room.
