Job Summary
The Banquet server is responsible for providing the highest quality dining and meeting experience for our members and their guests by exercising the highest degree of professionalism and hospitality skills. By using the standards and procedures provided, the Banquet server will ensure the successful delivery of the Banquet Service Guarantees. The Banquet server must comply with all rules and regulations established by the DAC and its management, including the DAC grooming standards. As with all DAC employees, the Banquet server must display teamwork and camaraderie with their fellow employees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Report to your work at your scheduled time, in proper uniform, professional, and properly groomed
- Understand and practice the DAC attendance policy
- Locate and gather all necessary items to perform the tasks ahead (i.e., tools of the trade, BEO)
- Communicate to Banquet management or Lead Server your arrival, locate your assignment (s), and discuss any last-minute changes
- Gather the necessary items in order to set your function room (i.e., silverware, glassware, linens, menus, etc.) and have room completely set 30 minutes prior to function start time. Also confirm room is clean and fully functional and report any maintenance or housekeeping issues to a manager or lead server
- Gather and retain all menu specials for proper delivery to members and their guests
- Attend all required meetings to include pre-meal in the Grill, pre-function meetings, PEP meetings, and any other training related meetings
- Be in your station and/or function room 15 minutes prior to the function start time fully knowledgeable with a friendly and professional disposition
- Be prepared to discuss the function with the client to ensure delivery of the specifications on the BEO and per the clients’ instructions
- Deliver continuous timely and impeccable service from the beginning to the end of the function per the BEO and/or client’s instructions
- Assist in expediting last minute requests immediately and effectively in accordance to the clients’ requests
- Practice the Greeting S&P with all functions
- Follow all established Banquet S&P’s
- Our staff members will display teamwork and camaraderie within their department and with other DAC staff members. Treat your coworkers as if they were a member
- Maintain proper and timely communication with supervisory team
- Responsible for the set up and breakdown of functions
- Assist in setting function(s) for the next shift or day
- Responsible for ringing ala carte functions through the POS
- Maintain clean and organized credenzas, cabinets, and closets
- Assist in maintaining the Prop cage and the proper handling of the props
- Maintain the linens, skirting, and decorative cloths and follow the S&P for handling linens properly
- Have full knowledge and understanding of the House Rules and be prepared to professionally report any infractions to your management team
- Assist management with departmental improvements and service training
Qualifications
Education:
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities.
Experience:
Prior hospitality experience (fine dining specifically) is preferred
Licenses and Certificates:
- TIPs on premise certifications
- State of Michigan food handler’s card.
Other:
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to support the business needs of the Club.
