Job Summary
Responsible for the effective movement and storage of materials throughout the plant with powered equipment and other devices.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all manufacturing equipment areas are fully stocked with raw or work in process materials to efficiently run production. Ensures production lines are stocked to provide an effective flow of material to enable production line efficiencies.
- Load and unload trailers with inbound and outbound freight, as necessary.
- Move, stock, and stage products using a forklift or other equipment.
- Ensures forklift truck is fully safe to operate by checking for safety items and completing forklift check sheet at beginning of each shift.
- Responsible for rotating inventory to ensure FIFO.
- Purge production lines of materials as needed. Ensure all bins of waste and scrap are properly disposed of. Unload hoppers as applicable.
- Assists with movement of equipment as necessary during applicable tool changes.
- Change the LP tank or other power sources, as necessary.
- Assists in physical inventories, cycle counts and quality sorting activities.
- Escalate materials issues and part shortages to supervisor when they occur.
- Responsible for safe and proper handling of product and equipment during all phases of materials processes, using correct equipment to complete job.
- Maintains good housekeeping in work area and throughout the plant.
- Stores equipment/product in appropriate manner and location at end of shift.
- Required to adhere to plant safety and environmental requirements as established by company policy. Required to adhere to established applicable quality management systems
- Must pass MIOSHA Equipment Operator Permit for Powered Industrial Trucks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries/incidents by following all MIOSHA and company policies and procedures.
- Ability to work various shifts, and overtime as required. Work involves frequent verbal communication with team members.
- Other assignments and responsibilities as required to support organizational and team objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience in materials handling experience in a manufacturing environment – preferably in automotive;
- Must have High School Diploma or G.E.D required. Must have one (1) year of forklift experience with valid forklift licenses and driver's licenses –or- must pass MIOSHA Equipment Operator Permit for Powered Industrial Trucks.
- Must be safe conscientious.
- Able to organize your work priorities to adhere to 5S and ability to stay on task
- Handle workload stressful situations.
- Ability to read and comprehend (i.e., work instructions, bill of lading, labels, etc.)
- Ability to use judgment and initiative to contribute effectively to department and organization objectives with excellent communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and writing skills.
- Must be capable of effectively interfacing with all levels of the workforce.
- Must have great attendance and work history.
- Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Available for staggering work schedules.
