Digital Literacy Coordinator

Description

The Digital Literacy Coordinator will drive the development and delivery of digital literacy training for DESC Jumpstart Program participants, working to enhance their digital skills for improved employability. This role includes overseeing Digital Literacy Exam proctoring, collaborating with local Detroit organizations (IDOs) on digital initiatives, and supporting participants in developing essential technology skills. Key duties include instructing adult learners in essential digital skills, managing online learning platforms, developing digital literacy curriculum and traveling to various program sites.

Key Responsibilities:
 

Digital Literacy Training Facilitation

• Design, organize, and deliver digital literacy training sessions for program participants, covering essential skills like online navigation, digital job applications, and workplace technology use.
• Assist participants in digital literacy, focusing on tools like internet browsers, email, social media, and productivity software.
• Emphasize critical digital literacy skills, such as evaluating information from news sources, public health sites, and government resources.
• Lead small group classes and one-on-one coaching in digital literacy, covering hardware, software, and online navigation.

Exam Proctoring and Compliance

• Administer and proctor digital literacy exams, ensuring adherence to testing standards and a smooth participant experience.
• Provide hands-on support during exams, troubleshoot issues, and maintain compliance with exam protocols.

Collaboration with Community Organizations (IDOs)

• Partner with IDOs to design, schedule, and promote digital literacy workshops and resources.
• Coordinate participant attendance and maintain records on progress to enhance program impact.
• Maintain all data related to the program including participant eligibility, attendance, sills progression, feedback and incentives.

Participant Support and Guidance

• Offer individualized and group support for participants, addressing challenges they may face in training or exam prep and motivating them to achieve their learning goals.

Progress Tracking and Reporting

• Monitor and document participant attendance, progress, and performance, regularly updating the Program Manager on outcomes and areas for improvement.

Training Material Development

• Assist in the creation and refinement of accessible training materials, ensuring they meet the needs of learners with varying digital proficiency levels.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, computer science, social work, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:

• 1-3 years in teaching, training, or workforce development, with digital literacy or technology education programs.
• Experience working with diverse or underserved populations is highly desirable.
• Experience writing curriculum for contextual learning and/or corrections education preferred.

Skills:

• Strong command of digital tools, including Microsoft Office, email, internet browsers, and online learning platforms.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and accessibly.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple training sessions and timelines.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging, motivating, and supporting participants.
• Proficient problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Familiarity with educational material development tailored to diverse learning needs.
• Experience in exam proctoring or assessment administration preferred.
• Familiarity with adult learning principles, workforce development, and basic knowledge of LMS or digital learning platforms preferred. 

LICENSES: Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License – Position requires field work. 

OTHER: Background check and drug screen required. 

Salary : $55,000 - $60,000
