The Land Reuse Data Analyst II role will support the work of the Detroit Land Bank Authority’s Land Reuse Team through data analysis and data governance. This role will play a strategic part in the improvements to our inquiry response pipeline, managing our dashboards, and conducting critical analysis necessary for preparing vacant land for sale through a variety of programs. This role will also have to opportunity to work on program design and implementation, interagency projects, community engagement, and more. Toward these ends, the Land Reuse Data Analyst II will represent the DLBA in public engagement events and develop reports, maps, data visualizations, and written narratives to support interagency coordination and the broader needs of the Land Reuse Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and implement a data-driven process for responding to resident inquiries
- Ensure data integrity by performing data quality audits and analysis
- Maintain databases with regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) data updates
- Develop letters and maps to notice residents of land bank ownership or of risk of tax foreclosure for past purchasers to prevent reacquisition
- Develop reports, including data visualizations, maps, graphs, and written narratives
- Conduct spatial analyses, create geographic information system (GIS) datasets, and create maps
- Identify and implement processes, data, and reporting improvements
- Provide technical oversight for integrating new technology or new initiatives into data standards and structures
- Provide reporting and technical assistance to staff within the team
- Assist Department leadership with the development of sales policies and the management of sales strategy pilots, and the evaluation of policy impact on Detroit communities
- Comply with all state, federal, and company guidelines, rules and regulations
- Develop project plans, monitor project progress, and analyze overall project performance
- Perform other related duties as directed
- Develop reports, including data visualizations, maps, graphs, and written narratives for a variety of audiences
- Learn and ensure compliance with DLBA policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Interact with department personnel, managers, directors, neighborhood leaders, and city officials
- Ensure timelines and milestones for strategies based on DLBA and inter-agency prioritization
- Track and monitor compliance of projects
- Enter, track, and report all necessary components of process into Salesforce database
- Build tracking systems for new projects as they are developed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and Land Reuse Manager
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- In-depth knowledge of Detroit communities and respect for diverse cultures/lifestyles.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Informatics, Geography, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business, or another relevant field, or equivalent demonstrated analytical and technical ability. Master’s Degree is strongly preferred.
- At least two years of experience in spatial and numeric data analysis in a professional or academic setting
- Demonstrated professional or academic experience with GIS
- Must have strong organizational, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- A strong system and data analysis background
- Knowledge of Salesforce database, preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g. a personal computer, wireless equipment, copier and fax)
- Proven track record of working in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), Adobe version 10 or greater. Knowledge of SQL, statistics, and data visualization preferred.
