Job Overview
The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team.
This full-time position requires the ability to perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment, verify patient identity, and review medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy, and/or psychological indicators.
- Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up. Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script.
- Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to radiologists. Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
- Provide physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
- Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
- Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
- Able to take call/standby as required by the department.
Requirements:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
- Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
