Who We Are :

Detroit Recovery Project, Inc. (DRP) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides outpatient recovery support services for those with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We treat the whole person through our integrated programs of primary medical and behavioral healthcare.

Our program philosophy is rooted in developing a healthy recovery ecosystem for those seeking long-term recovery. Through strong therapeutic relationships with our clients, helping them to understand the underlying social and emotional issues that drive their substance use, the recovery ecosystem focuses on five key areas :

What we're looking for :

The Peer Navigator will work with the participant to develop a care plan and to maintain engagement of participant to obtain services. The Peer Navigator will provide peer support to pregnant and postpartum people who have been identified as having risk for substance misuse. Services provision will focus on connecting families to needed community resources including home visitation programs. The Peer Navigator will also work with community partners to develop referral pathways for pregnant individuals that need peer support.

Compensation Range : The pay rate for this position is $20-21 / hr and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. This is a salaried-exempt role that is ineligible for overtime compensation.

The Ideal candidate will :

Provide an individualized assessment of identified families eligible for Peer Navigator Pilot

Assist families in connecting to community resources

With support of your supervisor, establish relationships to develop a referral pathway of pregnant women to the Agency

Provide families with a warm handoff to the home visiting service that best fits the needs of the family

Provide scheduled follow-up for families to identify any additional needed support.

Assess for and provide facilitation of the completion of a plan of safe care on every identified family.

Attend monthly Peer Navigator Group Mental Health Consultation

Participate in staff training and development including monthly Peer Navigator Group Mental Health Consultation

Advocate on behalf of persons with behavioral health problems to protect the family's rights and to assist in reducing associated stigma

Have the ability to work well with others

Be familiar with local community resources

Develop and maintain written documentation (assessments, service plans, progress notes, monthly reports, and other programmatic documentation)

Have a great attitude and people skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds

Link individuals to identified services (housing, treatment, medical services, employment, etc.)

Input data directly into iPad / tablet during the client meeting, or following the client meeting

Demonstrate and actively promote an understanding and commitment to the mission and values of the Detroit Recovery Project, Inc.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Valid Driver's License

Have a good understanding and familiarity Detroit resources

MCBAP and MDHHS Certifications preferred

HS Diploma / GED

Ability to work with vulnerable populations in a non-judgement manner, and work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

Past or present recipient of mental health or substance abuse services with at least 2 years of long-term uninterrupted sobriety

Minimum two (2) years of experience working with substance use disorder (SUD) or HIV populations preferred

Excellent communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office

Have a flexible work schedule to include the occasional evening, holiday and weekend as needed

Works well with a team and limited direct supervision

Must possess compassion, kindness, patients and understanding with all clients

Must be comfortable entering homes

Have experience providing services to women and children

Maintain appropriate positive, professional interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, participants, and volunteers

Strong organizational skills

Demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn

Demonstrates strong customer service skills that support the DRP core values

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
