Job Summary:
The seasonal baseball growth initiatives assistant is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and progression of youth baseball and softball programs for the Detroit Tigers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the development, execution, and evaluation of programming and events for Tigers youth baseball and softball initiatives, including, but not limited to, Tiny Tigers, Tigers Youth Baseball Camps, grassroots clinics, coaching seminars, equipment drives, award nominations and presentations, as well as MLB initiatives and special events.
- Support research, development, presentation, and management of opportunities to positively impact the community through intentional and innovative programs focused youth baseball and softball.
- Increase baseball and softball awareness and participation in Michigan by working with USA Baseball, USA Softball, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association, and baseball leagues / programs operating within the state.
- Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions to drive participation in youth baseball and softball, including new initiatives such as specialized clinics, coaching symposiums, and local program partnerships.
- Assist in the creation and execution of team-driven platforms offering resources to youth, parents, coaches, and ballpark staff
- Oversight assistance with all aspects of equipment needs and inventory
- General correspondences with fans, parents, and youth leagues in response to written and email inquiries
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Ilitch Holdings companies, colleagues, community partners and corporate partners
- Support the collective community impact group as needed (outreach and engagement / fundraising and development)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Demonstrated high level of communications skills (verbal, written and presentation)
- Evidence of organization and planning skills and the ability to prioritize multiple events or projects and meet deadlines
- Evidence of attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office suite, database, Internet, etc.)
- Service oriented; committed to teamwork and catering to the customer
- Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards
- Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals
- Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience in youth baseball, softball, and/or special event planning
- Experience working in the sports and entertainment industry
- Experience volunteering and/or working with nonprofit(s)
- Ability and knowledge working with/and moving trailer with hitch
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week with flexibility for additional hours as needed
- 2025 seasonal role is scheduled to begin on March 3, 2025 conclude on October 24, 2025
- Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Exposure to moderate - high noise level
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Frequent visual/auditory attention
