The Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities, is seeking game day and event support staff to help the Foundation continue to increase its impact on the community. The role will include supporting game day efforts such as the 50/50 Raffle, as well as event-based fundraisers as needed.
The Detroit Tigers Foundation 50/50 Raffle takes place during all Detroit Tigers home games at Comerica Park. One lucky winner receives 50% of the jackpot and the remaining 50% is directed to the Detroit Tigers Foundation to support ongoing charitable efforts.
On game day, you will be responsible for assisting the Detroit Tigers Foundation team with 50/50 Raffle execution beginning prior to when gates open through either the end of the selling period or the end of the game (subject to change based on game and individual responsibilities). This is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise while learning more about our growing and exciting sports and entertainment organization that values your initiative, creativity, and drive for results.
This is a seasonal, part-time position and is based in Detroit, MI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in achieving Detroit Tigers Foundation fundraising goals through in-game and event-based initiatives
- Approach and speak to a large quantity of fans each game
- Use mobile handheld or stationary device for 50/50 Raffle tickets
- Communicate and educate fans about 50/50 Raffle details and rules
- Represent the Tigers and the Detroit Tigers Foundation in a positive manner as brand ambassadors, while providing world class service to our fans
- Understand the mission of the Detroit Tigers Foundation and effectively communicate and deliver information regarding the Foundation’s charitable endeavors
- Occasional set up, tear down, and storage of 50/50 Raffle equipment and kiosks
- Assist with supervising and training 50/50 Raffle volunteers
- Assist with troubleshooting and in-game assistance of raffle volunteers, supplies, kiosks, selling devices
- Arrive at Comerica Park prior to game time (arrival time is set by the raffle manager and communicated for each game)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in customer service and/or sales
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to interact positively with fans and other motivated, high-energy sales teammates
- Dedicated to a solution-oriented approach when challenges arise
- 18 years of age or older by first day of employment
- Attend mandatory, paid group training session before Opening Day
Physical Demands:
- Able to remain standing for extended periods of time
- Able to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs throughout shift
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
Time Commitment:
- Work 75% of home games April through September, with the possibility of post season games
- Able to work non-traditional hours according to the Tigers home schedule and non-game fundraising events as needed
Typical Raffle Hours*:
- 1:10 pm Game: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
- 1:40 pm Game: 11:30 am – 4:30 pm
- 6:10 pm Game: 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm
- 6:40 pm Game: 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm
- 7:10 pm Game: 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
