State Opioid Response Coordinator

Under the general supervision of the Director of Substance Use Disorders, the State Opioid Response Coordinator will ensure implementation of the SOR (State Opioid Response) Grants providing prevention, treatment, and recovery support services to persons who are misusing and addicted to opioids and stimulants.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures implementation of SOR (State Opioid Response) Grants.
• Oversees and provides support for the prevention, treatment, and recovery support services that are provided to individuals who are misusing and addicted to opioids and stimulants.
• Assists with the distribution and access to Naloxone.
• Provides harm reduction education. 
• Supports the utilization of peer recovery support in recovery-based initiatives for persons with or at risk of having an opioid and/or stimulant use disorder.
• Facilitates and supports implementation of grant objectives through project management and collaboration with SOR grant partners.
• Develops and maintains relationships with provider partners.
• Prepares and submits required grant reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports).
• Participates in MDHHS site reviews with SOR grant provider partners.
• Serves as a liaison with MDHHS regarding State Opioid Response (SOR) grants.
• Develops and maintains specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information.
• Monitors grant spending and timelines and prepares carry-over requests.
• Troubleshoots and manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the grant period.
• Supports and coordinates regional training events as required by grants and/or at the request of the provider network. 
• Coordinates event production, including scheduling of events, scheduling presenters, letters of agreement, hotel reservations, registration, day-of logistics, evaluations, certificates, CEUs, fee collection, subsequent grant reporting, etc.  
• Coordinates the pre-award planning, design, organization, preparation, writing and submission of new SOR grants and/or amendments to SOR grants.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university.

PLEASE NOTE: A Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Service/Social Service field is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of full-time paid professional experience in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting including at least (1) year of full-time paid professional experience in the Substance Use Disorder field.

REQUIRED LICENSE(S).

Must have a CADC or a CAADC certification.

A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

 NOTE: Employees are required to have an operable vehicle available during work hours. 

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is usually performed in an office setting but requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan.
