What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editorial Associate position at detroitlions?
The Editorial Associate will have the opportunity to learn about and assist in the operation and upkeep of Detroitlions.com and its communication between the Lions organization and the public. Candidates will need to be able to work 5 days per week. Due to the unique nature of this position, the candidate must be able to work extended hours during the NFL season and all offseason events which will include working on nights, weekends and holidays.
This position is based at the Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park, MI, but may require travel to Ford Field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
The Editorial Associate will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:
- Assist with daily and long-term maintenance of Detroitlions.com
- Assist with preparing & editing article content for Detroitlions.com
- Edit photos & create website photo galleries
- Other duties as assigned
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands
- Will keep appropriate information confidential
- Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Website management, Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Poise and the ability to present him or herself to others with professionalism and maturity
- An energetic and self-motivated attitude
- Comfortable speaking with professional athletes and coaches in both a work setting and within the context of an interview
- Candidates should have experience in the areas of communications, journalism, written communication and basic website management.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop strongly preferred
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) required
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
