What are the responsibilities and job description for the Football Communications Game Day Assistant position at detroitlions?
The Detroit Lions currently need a Football Communications Game Day Assistant. We will accept applications for this position until 11:59PM on April 29, 2025 (subject to change).
This is a part-time position working with the Detroit Lions Football Communications department. The selected candidate will be expected to work all Detroit Lions home games for the 2025 football season at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.
Additionally, the chosen candidate will be expected to attend a select number of training camp practices in July and/or August at The Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park, Mich. and work a college football bowl game at Ford Field in December/January. The selected candidate may also be asked to work with the Football Communications department during the 2026 NFL Draft at The Meijer Performance Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Football Communications Game Day Assistant position will have responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:
- Gather audio and transcribe quotes from press conferences and media sessions or for additional projects
- Assist at media will call on gamedays
- Support football communications staff with photographer check-in on gamedays
- Assist with stat distribution to various stadium locations on gamedays
- Set up media viewing areas in the press-box on gamedays
- Support football communications staff with media credentialing at practice
- Monitor practice to ensure media and spectators remain in appropriate areas
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands
- Maintain appropriate information confidentiality
- Accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must currently be enrolled at an accredited college or university while in this role
- Candidates who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas will be preferred: Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, Sports Marketing or Sports Communications
- Candidates are expected to have availability for all Detroit Lions home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Will adjust schedule as needed to meet work goals and time constraints
- A valid Driver’s License and a good driving record is required
- Candidates who have experience with transcribing interviews are preferred
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) is required
- Effective use of both writing and oral communication skills is required
- Candidate is expected to attend all Detroit Lions home games for the 2025 football calendar. Local candidates will be preferred.
