What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney position at DEVAUGHN JAMES LLC?
We are growing and looking for attorneys with extensive litigation experience to join our team in our Wichita office.
DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers is the largest personal injury law firm in the state of Kansas, and we continue to experience rapid growth across our five office locations in Kansas and Missouri. Life is too short to not enjoy your job! We were very proud to be named "Best Place to Work” by the Wichita Business Journal in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 (don’t worry, we placed in the top 3 in 2018, 2022 and 2023).
Currently, our 35 attorneys join our team of over 120 people as we pursue our mission to aggressively fight for injured people in a professional manner.
We represent clients who have been injured and need a compassionate advocate to fight for them against big insurance companies. Our Litigation Attorney duties include handling files in active litigation, attending court hearings, legal writing, conducting mediations, taking depositions, and being first chair at trial.
A Kansas bar license is required. Individuals licensed in other states, but working towards a Kansas license are also encouraged to apply.
This is a full-time, in person position with health and dental insurance fully paid by the firm for the attorney, long-term and short-term disability insurance fully paid by the firm for the attorney, paid time off (10 days at your hire date, 15 days on your 1st anniversary, and an additional day each year until 20 days at 6 years; this is in addition to 8 paid Holidays). After a year with the firm, you will be eligible for the 401k plan (upon the plan entry date) and the firm automatically contributes 3% of your salary to your retirement.
The salary range is $100,000 - $250,000 per year, and will be discussed with the attorney depending on previous litigation and trial experience, qualifications, and earnings. Extensive litigation experience is required for the high end of the salary range. Performance/feedback meetings occur periodically during the first 6 months. There is also a bonus plan which begins when independently handling your own files.
Avoid billable hour requirements - enjoying your job at DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers is a much better life. Also, we almost forgot to mention - when the firm meets its goals the entire firm and a guest go on an all-expenses paid trip to celebrate a great year. Past locations have been the Bahamas, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos and Jamaica.
Please send a resume, three references, and cover letter addressing your interest in living and working in our Wichita office (or state any reasons or interest in working in Topeka or one of our Kansas City offices).
