Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans. Shift
Part-time basis Schedule is 4 five-hour shifts/week (no evenings, weekends, or holidays).
Responsibilities : Nurse Practitioner Duties
- Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance
- Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions
- Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly
- Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate
- With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary
- Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled
- Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable
- Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO
- Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance
Skills
- Strong knowledge of utilization management principles.
- Proficient in pain management techniques and strategies.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on empathy and communication.
- Experience with dermal fillers and botulinum toxin treatments is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and test interpretation.
- Understanding of ophthalmology practices is a plus.
- Competence in acute pain management protocols.
- Ability to provide compassionate infant care when necessary.
- Knowledge of dialysis procedures is advantageous.
