Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Meter Reader to join our team. The Meter Reader will be responsible for accurately reading and recording utility meters on assigned routes.
Duties
- Walk or drive specified routes to read utility meters
- Record data accurately and efficiently using handheld devices
- Report any irregularities or issues with meters
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and customers
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working in the field
Requirements
- Knowledge of low voltage systems
- Experience in utility locating is a plus
- Ability to operate bucket trucks for elevated meter readings
- Basic equipment repair skills
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting meter issues
- Familiarity with voltmeters and other field service tools
- Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools
- Understanding of cabling systems and connections
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.75 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
- Meter reading: 1 year (Preferred)
- Utility service worker: 1 year (Preferred)
- Manual laborer: 1 year (Preferred)
- Journeyman: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Preferred)
