Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Product Management & Marketing, the Senior Category Manager will oversee the mini-excavator, compact track loader, dozer, and attachments product portfolio for DEVELON in North America. This pivotal role will involve working across functions to develop and deliver product marketing plans, assist with product portfolio management, and engage in promotion activities related to construction machinery products. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the construction machinery sector, either with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or a dealer.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Portfolio Management
· Fully responsible for the P&L of the category.
· Set 12-month strategy and tactical plans to enable field to execute with dealers and end users, working off the company’s long term strategic plan.
· Gather data and input on product attributes, needs, problems, competitor offerings, end-user trends and turn into actionable insight.
· Communicate and work with Global Product Management, R&D, and factory teams to address product issues.
· Work with other functions to set product pricing and periodically adjust pricing and discount strategies as appropriate.
· Develop recommendations on optimizing product mix.
· Establish product price points and discount levels.
· Manage category product roadmap for the region to include new product introductions, product phase-outs, and model year introductions.
· Analyze and establish action plans to grow and / or improve product performance in specific geographies, dealers, and segments.
Product Marketing
· Create content for training and communications and train customers on product features and value messaging.
· Develop product value messaging to be used in sales training and marketing collateral.
· Participate in company sponsored tradeshows.
Requirements
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field required. MBA or similar preferred.
· Minimum 10 years professional experience within sales, marketing, and/or product management.
· Must have proficiency with Microsoft tools, such as MS Excel and PowerPoint.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated knowledge of heavy machinery – ideally construction machinery.
· Ability to break down longer term vision into actionable near-term plans.
· Understanding of how decisions impact the P&L
