General Description of Position:
Developing K.I.D.S. (Developing Kingdoms In Different Stages) is seeking a dynamic full-time Program Specialist to develop positive long-term relationships with youth to support their successful matriculation through the our programs. The individual will connect regularly with youth and caregivers for check-ins and progress to reaching goals. This individual will also assist with the skill development instruction for youth year round. The desired candidate will have great communication skills as they build relationships with businesses in the community to leverage opportunities and resources for participants. All staff and volunteers must uphold high moral standards and demonstrate leadership qualities that represent Developing K.I.D.S. in a positive and respectful manner. The Program Specialist is responsible for carrying out the following duties:
Essential Functions
- Provide support for partnerships and any workforce solutions and/or outputs that result from partnerships.
- Serve as support for the Site Coordinator for afterschool and summer locations where youth in training or programming are placed
- Participate in all convenings, meetings and conferences
- Facilitate sessions for youth and young adults on employment readiness, social and emotional wellness, and soft skill development
- Support post-secondary education projects and events
- Lead youth through successful internship and summer youth employment experiences
- Enter data into database of potential and current worksites and/or industry representatives
- Assist with internship placements and conduct regular check-ins with participants and their supervisor
- Work with Program Manager and Directors to develop effective strategies to meet program goals/objectives
- Collect data and maintain records to measure program progress and success
- Assist with special events and projects;
- Other duties as assigned
Characteristics/Skills/Qualifications:
- Entry-level position-High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- High level of self-motivation and ability to multitask
- Strong facilitation skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills (bilingualism is a plus)
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with youth intentionally
- Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to problem solve in a busy and dynamic work environment
- Established leadership skills including the ability to manage stakeholder groups
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of economic and workforce development practices, systems, and program design is desired;
- Knowledge of youth development and workforce development training systems is desired;
