Your Role: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
As a DSP at DHI, you’ll have the chance to truly change lives—offering not just care, but meaningful support that encourages individuals to live boldly and independently. You’ll be at the heart of everyday moments—preparing meals, celebrating achievements, sharing laughs, and providing hands-on support when needed. Your presence and dedication help others unlock their potential, find their voice, and live life to the fullest.
What You’ll Do:
Your daily responsibilities will vary depending on individual needs, but typically include:
- Personal Care Support: Assist with hygiene routines such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, while promoting dignity and self-esteem.
- Restroom & Changing Support: Help individuals with toileting needs in a respectful, compassionate manner.
- Home Maintenance: Pitch in with household chores like laundry, dishes, and general tidying to keep homes safe and welcoming.
- Meal Support: Aid with preparing meals and feeding assistance as needed.
- Medication Administration: Dispense medications accurately according to set procedures and guidelines.
- Record Keeping: Maintain clear, detailed notes on progress, activities, and services delivered.
- Community Engagement: Encourage participation in events like UND games, Special Olympics, art sessions, music therapy, and social nights, ensuring everyone feels included.

Qualifications You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years or older
It’s a Plus If You Have:
Previous experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a background check, child abuse and neglect screening, and a pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and an insurable driving record
Pay & Perks:
- Starting wage: $20.00/hour
- Extra $1.00/hour for weekend shifts
