The Coordinator Assistant for an Individual with Developmental Disabilities is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and providing comprehensive care for a residential home housing individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a compassionate approach to ensuring the well-being, safety, and development of the residents. The Residential Coordinator Assistant will work closely with the direct support staff, the individuals' families, and other professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive living environment.
- Resident Care: Ensure the provision of high-quality care and support for all residents, respecting their individuality and promoting their independence and personal growth.
- Program Implementation: Oversee the implementation of individualized care plans, behavior support plans, and other relevant programs to meet the unique needs and goals of each resident.
- Staff Supervision: Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the direct support staff, ensuring they adhere to policies, procedures, and best practices for care.
- Training and Development: Conduct or coordinate ongoing training sessions for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain and promote a high standard of care within the residential home, conducting regular assessments, and implementing improvement plans as needed.
- Medication Management: Ensure proper administration and documentation of medications in compliance with regulations and protocols.
- Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and healthy living environment by regularly inspecting the home for hazards, maintaining emergency plans, and promptly addressing any health concerns.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate and communicate effectively with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, case managers, and other involved parties to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Financial Management: Oversee the budget and financial resources of the residential home, ensuring appropriate allocation and efficient use of funds for the residents' needs.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including incident reports, progress notes, and administrative documentation.
- Crisis Management: Handle crisis situations calmly and effectively, following established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring they have access to appropriate services and community resources.
- Community Integration: Facilitate community involvement and social integration opportunities for residents, promoting inclusion and enhancing their quality of life.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about best practices, industry trends, and advancements in the field of developmental disabilities, applying this knowledge to improve care and services.
- Ensure Fire/Tornado Drills and walkthrough are run by the 15th
- Ensure Evening ISP Program Data are completed
- Ensure Residential Medical Appointments/Consultation Forms are completed and turned in
- Ensure Evening Time Trackers are completed
- Ensure ALL medications are present and accounted for
- Ensure Residential MAR/PRN Data are completed
- Ensure you review and make a comment on the ISP safety plan competency with the evening DSP
- Ensure Did you review and make a comment on the ISP safety plan competency with the overnight DSP
- Ensure cleanliness of the home and directed staff of tasks needed to be completed
- Ensure maintenance requests documented on the maintenance list
- Ensure you attend your scheduled 1 on 1 meeting with your coordinator to discuss any concerns, staff issues, KPI, etc
- Ensure you check and respond to your emails/scomms/texts today
- Ensure there an incident that required a GER
- Ensure an incident that required a GER did you make appropriate team contacts on time
- Ensure you asked the individual if their staff refused to take them somewhere today, if so, ensure you followed up with HR
- Ensure you verify that diabetic documentation was recorded in both the MAR and the Glucose Tab
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, special education) preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with developmental disabilities, behavior management techniques, person- centered planning, and relevant regulations and standards.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of direct support staff.
- Empathy and Patience: Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals with developmental disabilities with empathy, patience, and understanding.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges and make informed decisions.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work non-traditional hours and be available on-call for emergencies.
