Childcare Provider
Providers work directly with the Staffing Coordinator, Employee Facilitator, NAEYC Coordinator and peers to provide a developmentally appropriate, educationally stimulating classroom environment for the children enrolled in their class. Extensive on the job training and support is provided to all staff to ensure success in the classroom and high levels of job satisfaction.
I) INTRODUCTION:
To provide early childhood education and child care by planning, supervising, and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children of differing abilities.
II) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Form a warm and loving relationship with each child in the classroom.
2) Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children to achieve classroom and individual goals. Develop a daily schedule and weekly lesson plans, and provide appropriate materials and equipment.
3) Provide a safe, healthy physical environment.
4) Communicate regularly with parents through a variety of means, regarding classroom activities, child’s progress, etc.
5) Provide large and small group instruction, play and other activities for the facilitation of the development and learning of children with diverse needs.
6) Co-teach with a special education teacher in order to effectively provide early intervention services for children with disabilities in an inclusive preschool setting.
7) Consult with and receive training from therapists and other specialists regarding therapeutic procedures and techniques for children with disabilities.
8) Supervise paraprofessional staff members, practicum students, and volunteers placed in the classroom.
9) Other duties as assigned relating to the effective delivery of services to children and their families.
III) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and experience working with groups of children preferred.
IV) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to operate equipment typical in classroom and office settings, including assembling and dissembling toys and equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and speaking with a variety of audiences including parents, professionals and community members. Must understand the federal and state statues and interpret rules and procedures. Should be organized and be able to work independently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to fifty pounds, and be patient as well as agile in bending, walking other positions necessary for the care of children. Willingness and ability to travel in own vehicle throughout assigned service area.
